The ABCDE melanoma skin cancer assessment is very helpful in identifying suspicious moles that could be cancerous.
Melanoma can occur anywhere on the body and is the most aggressive form of skin cancer. Watch out for these warning signs, and see your doctor if you spot any moles or marks on your body that bear one or more:

(A) Asymmetry
(B) Border: uneven or ragged edges
(C) Color: more than one color and/or shade
(D) Diameter: larger than a pencil eraser
(E) Evolving: changing in size, shape, or color
