Port surgery for breast cancer chemotherapy

In Japan it seems that a portacath isn’t standard #cancertreatment . However, when I came back to Australia and moved my #breastcancer treatment over here, they organised my port placement #surgery straight away. AC #chemo (AKA “the red devil”) is super damaging for your veins and can cause skin death, so because my veins were shot from the Taxol (Paclitaxel), this was a necessary step in my treatment for breast cancer.

On the whole, it wasn’t bad at all and has made chemo so much easier! So glad I have my port and highly recommend it for anyone going through cancer treatment!
