Breast cancer is one of the most common and deadly cancers among women. Early detection can improve survival rates, but human radiologists can miss some cases or give false positives. Artificial intelligence (AI) systems can help by analyzing mammograms more accurately and efficiently than doctors. Google’s DeepMind AI has shown promising results in a trial with 29,000 women from the U.S. and U.K., reducing false negatives by 9.4% and false positives by 5.7%. AI could also help in countries like Hungary, where there is a shortage of radiologists and screening rates are low.
