I'm Dr. Hamid Sajjad, an Internist.

I wanna talk about symptoms of colorectal cancer in this video.

This common cancer causes the death of one million people worldwide every year

Because of the importance of this cancer, it's necessary to know the early symptoms of it,

in order to detect this cancer in the early stages.

Because of the importance of this topic, I invite you to watch this video to the end.

The first symptom is diarrhea.

Colon tumors may bleed and cause diarrhea.

In younger patients, it's more likely to be misdiagnosed colorectal cancer with irritable bowel syndrome.

Another symptom is constipation.

Tumor growth can shrink the large intestine,

For this reason, it becomes more difficult for feces to pass through it.

These conditions can lead to defecation with less frequency,

and in some cases, it causes the stool to become narrow.

The next symptom is bloody and narrow stool.

In addition to diarrhea and constipation, any other changes in the stool can be a sign of colon cancer.

Narrow stools or bloody stools are emergency cases that should be considered.

These symptoms may indicate that the tumor has blocked the colon or is bleeding in it.

If you notice any abnormal stool conditions, especially existence of blood;

you should to see a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy.

You should see your doctor again for a check-up.

Another symptom is existence of abdominal mass around the navel.

If you notice any stiffness around your navel, you shouldn't ignore it.

The stiff mass in the umbilical region; in addition to being a sign of colon cancer,

could be a sign of another cancer in the abdomen that has spread beyond the large intestine.

The next sign is iron deficiency and anemia.

Anemia or iron deficiency can be a sign of colon cancer.

It happens due to losing blood through stool

Bleeding can be very slow and not visible in the stool.

When it lasts continuously over months and years,

it leads to depletion of the body's iron reserves.

Another symptom is unwanted weight loss.

If you are losing your weight and have no reason for it,

this could be a symptom of a variety of cancers including colon cancer.

If you experience any other signs and symptoms, especially changes in stool conditions,

you shouldn't ignore your weight loss.

Another symptom is cramps or stomachache

If you experience pain or cramping in the abdomen and this condition does not improve,

you shouldn't disregard this.

If that condition persists for more than a week or gets worse gradually,

it may be a sign of a tumor in the colon.

Abdominal pain and ailment can indicate a variety of health problems.

This is why it's important to see a gastroenterologist to check for colon cancer through a colonoscopy.

Another symptom is anorexia for no specific reason.

While anorexia without a specific reason can be due to many health and cancer issues,

If it is associated with other symptoms of colon cancer, especially changes in defecation conditions,

it should not be ignored.

Another sign is weakness and fatigue.

Weakness and fatigue may be a normal part of your daily life.

But they can also be a sign of anemia, iron deficiency and a symptom of colorectal cancer.

If you are always feeling tired and weak,

it's important to see a doctor to check the condition carefully and take a blood test.

Anemia in itself is not a major concern,

But it can also be a sign of a more serious problem, such as colorectal cancer.

You may be wondering what to do if you experience these symptoms?

If you experience any of these signs or symptoms,

it's necessary to see your doctor to check the condition carefully.

Your doctor may prescribe tests for further evaluation,

but in most cases a colonoscopy will be needed for more accurate evaluation.

You need remember that early detection is important.

Early diagnosis of cancer can be a key factor to earn the best treatment results.

As you know, prevention is the best protection against cancer.

Noninvasive screening and colonoscopy tests

have led to significant reductions in cancer incidence and related mortality.

It's important to listen to the screening recommendations

and not to ignore the signs and symptoms that could indicate a problem in the body.

On the other hand, colonoscopy is the best way to early diagnose colon cancer.
